
Angella Okutoyi storms Wimbledon quarter finals in Girls’ Doubles

The quarterfinal match will serve off at around 1730EAT on Thursday.
Kenya’s tennis sensation Angella Okutoyi is through to the Wimbledon’s quarterfinals of the Girls’ doubles after safely navigating past the second round together with her Dutch partner Rose Marie Nijkamp.
On Wednesday evening, the pair defeated Denislava Glushkova (Bulgaria) and Hayu Kinoshita (Japan) 6-2, 6-3 to successfully confirm their berth in the last eight of the junior girls’ category.
Angella Okutoyi is through to the Wimbledon’s quarterfinals of the Girls doubles after safely navigating the 2nd round together with her Dutch partner Rose Marie Nijkamp.

The day before, Okutoyi and Nijkamp had opened their run in the Championship with a straight set 6-4, 6-4 ouster of Georgia Pedone (Italy) and Kaitlin Quevedo (United States of America) to advance to the second round on Wednesday where they also got the job done.
Following the two victories in the first and second round, the Kenyan youngster and the Netherlands international will clash against the Czech pair of Linda Klimovicova and Dominika Salkova for a place in the semifinals of the prestigious Wimbledon Championship.

Okutoyi shifted her focus to the doubles after her singles run in the tournament, where she making her debut, was ended in the very first round of the main draw, the 2020 African Junior tennis champion succumbing to a 6-3, 6-2 defeat against Canada’s Mia Kupres.
